8-29-81

When we were at Heritage Gardens last month I saw Scott playing with the blocks in the kids outdoor space.  As I got closer I realized what he was working on.  My wonderful husband still knows how to melt my heart.  So today I am posting this photo in honor of our anniversary.  On our wedding day I couldn't imagine how I could ever be any happier than I was at that moment in my life. What I didn't realize was that feeling was but a tiny drop in puddle.  That has now become an ocean. Happy anniversary, honey.  Race you to the water.

Life in a Bubble

One of the first places we visited in Chicago was Cloud Gate, aka "The Bean", in Millennium Park. It's a huge stainless steel sculpture resembling a drop of mercury that you can walk under and around.  I took this shoot as we were out of the park; it looked like a giant bubble of Chicago with curious spectators all around.

She Said Yes

My first engagement photo shoot!  This one was particularly exciting because I happen to know the happy couple quite well: my son Stephen and his fiancee' Anna.  While visiting them last week at their new apartment in Chicago I took the opportunity to help celebrate the news and capture them in these  photos.  It was very impromptu - I found a fun prop for the shoot and while searching to no avail for Roosevelt fountain we came across the flower wall in front of the Art Institute for the setting.  A perfect pre-dinner activity!

Unfolding

The Mandevilla vine has really taken off this week!  Today I noticed that there are three offshoot now, all tightly entwined on the trellis.  I love the color and the variations from nearly white to hot pink.

Milling Around

Okay, I guess I just love mills!  This one in Sandwich uses water to generate the energy to grind corn into flour.  During the summer months you can go inside and observe the process and leave with a bag of flour, too.  I loved the clarity of the reflection here, and the fact that no one else was around during my walk.  I sat for quite awhile on the wall and did some reflecting myself.

I wish that I brought my book!

Boardwalk Bound

One of my favorite walks in Sandwich is the road leading up to the boardwalk.  It's a neighborhood of homes with incredible views of the marsh and beautiful gardens.  The epitome of summer in my favorite hues!
