This is one of my favorite trees, outside of the front window at Art Play. It has such character and as I watched the sunlight filter through its branches this morning I decided it was time to photograph it. I spent about 10 minutes after school, getting in and around it. When I was finished and heading back to my car a gentleman came up to me in the parking lot and asked what I was saw and why I was photographing that old tree. I told him that I was admiring the beautiful light and shadows on the gnarled branches. "Oh," he said. "So you are just noticing what most of us don't." Ahhhh.

These pumpkins reminded me of our preschoolers, all lined up getting ready to go outside. Partners and everything!

Market Day

Today was the perfect day to go to the market in Cumberland - 82 and sunny with a little breeze. The vegetables were beautiful!

I loved the colors and reflections and jewel-like tones in these glass pieces. They seemed to glow in the sunlight.

My husband Scott and I spent the weekend in Cape Cod. One of my favorite spots is the Sandwich Glass Museum. I took many shots there but I loved this little still life set up on a table at a nearby shop.

Origami Tomatoes

These aren't really made out of paper, but they look like they could be. When my friend Sharon introduced me to these a few weeks ago I couldn't believe they were tomatoes! You peel off the delicate wrapper and pop them into your mouth - yum. Each color has a different flavor; they are sweet and fruity flavored - some of them taste like pineapple. Sharon bought these at the farmers market and was kind enough to share some for a photo shoot. She's the best.....

Four Lemons

This is my favorite plate, which I bought when I was in San Gimignano with my friend Karen. I thought it would be fun to play a little with the still life - I love the echoing highlights!

Art Show

The 43rd Annual Labor Day Art Show at Fort Williams Park, Cape Elizabeth - what a day! We arrived at 6:45 for setup and it was chilly - and blustery, thanks to the remnants of Hurricane Earl. We learned a lot about tents, displays, presentation and how to be prepared for high winds! It was a great turnout and we met so many nice people and wonderful artists. I sold 2 photos and traded one for a beautiful calendar. Not bad for a first outdoor show...

Fading Fast

This time of year is so bittersweet. I went looking for the sunflower field in North Yarmouth only to find a field of dead heads and faded blooms. How disappointing! This Queen Anne's caught my eye as I was getting back into the car. This view was a happy ending - even as the Lace fades it has an air of elegance as it waves gently in the breeze.

Tomorrow I am in an art show at Fort Williams from 10 to 4. This is a huge leap! It's exciting and frightening at the same time. Off to practice setting up in the back yard....
