A New Day

Maryann: Sunrise on Hurricane Road. You just can't top Mother Nature.

Susan: My favorite thing about spring is the joy of newness and the hope for all that is to come. Not unlike where we are right now, Maryann....

Flower Wars

Susan: Who knew the blooms could be so beautiful? And fragrant. They remind me of our Snow Crab that we planted for Garfield on Country Creek, only much bigger!  I wanted a muted pastel background and this shot set them off nicely.

Maryann: HOT!!!!! Pink.

A Likely Pair

Garden Shed

Susan: I love the gray contrasts. And tools with a history!

Maryann: These remind me of tissue paper flowers. I love how the light from behind makes the white petals glow.

Water View

Swan Lake

Maryann: I like the movement of the water surrounding the swan. It's almost a paisley-like swirl.

Ocean Blue

Susan: This is what I live for...

In the Garden

Susan: You never know what you’ll find...

Maryann: Don't do any gardening without your pinking shears!! Aren't they beautiful.............

The Other end of the Rainbow

Maryann is on a "day trip" in Amsterdam!

Maryann: The Hyacinths at Keukenhof were magnificent. They looked like they were on steroids. Imagine smelling fields of them. Heavenly........

White on White

Susan: I didn't know about holly trees till we moved to the Cape...

True Signs of Spring

Maryann: A sweet little Dutch lamb. You just wanted to run your hands through his wool.

Susan: The first time I’ve seen real footprints since the fall!

A Little Flap

Susan: If daffodils could talk....

Maryann: Pansies in the breeze

Have a Seat

Maryann: This is along the lines (no pun intended) of the yellow stripes photo. They are...........plastic Adirondack Chairs!!

Susan: I loved the line variety and shadows on the deck early this morning.

Golden Highlights

Maryann:  Catherine McCauley. I have always loved looking at this shiny dome.

Susan: I love their sunny faces!

A Little Glow

Maryann: Can you guess what this is?

Susan: Sy, our fabulous contractor, pulled this scroll from an 1800’s home in Cotuit that he’s been renovating. He knew we wanted to mix old with new in our bathroom so rather than trash it he created some architectural interest for us.

Ode to Joy

Cello Practice

Susan: My nephew, Daniel, is spending spring break with us. When it was time to practice cello he asked if he could do it outside. Why not? When we took a peek there he was in the middle of the front lawn playing away! We decided he may be hoping to meet a new friend or earn a little extra cash...

Cumberland Church

Maryann: I really liked the shadows and the blue and white combination.

Signs of Spring

Anyone Home?
Susan: The kids were having fun with fairy houses when we went outside for snack. Oh I wish I thought of these when I was little!

Maryann: Stopped in to Skillins---I just loved all the colors. ...makes you want to get out a paintbrush and try every one.

Classic Pose

Maryann: My boy. I need to start getting a bit more creative.

Cape Cod Color

Susan: I loved the sharp contrasts this morning, and the classic colors . It reminds me of a silkscreened calendar page - and how appropriate that it’s the Falmouth Art Center!

Monday, April 15, 2013

Susan:  Thoughts from a 7 year old attending my April vacation art camp this week. She asked if she could write a morning message and when I turned around this is what greeted me! I couldn't agree more...

Maryann:  It was  a tasty photo du jour!

Maryann: Love is in the air...

More Waves

Susan: I guess I must be in wave mode! I seem to keep finding them.

Beach Treasure
Susan: We discovered glass artist Michael Magyar at the Sandwich Glass Museum this fall. He creates these beautiful sand globes among many other works. A little wave action on those days when you can’t get to the beach!

Maryann: Trying my pets in motion feature on my new camera. This is Fletcher and some new found playmates.

Pretty and Pink

Maryann:   My pretty little Jilly was kind enough to smile and pose for me. I think this photo epitomizes her sweetness. Don't know how I did it, but many dog's eyes turn funny colors in photos. Got lucky this time.

Evening Silhouette

Susan: A peek through our new bathroom window. Sunsets will be spectacular here I think!

New Waves

Susan: Yesterday’s flowers were arranged in a square vase with a large hosta leaf hugging the glass on the inside. It created this beautiful wave that reflected the table colors and morning light.

Maryann: Another sure sign of Spring in my "neigh"borhood. The foals are arriving!

Nature Inspired

Color by Nature
Susan: I’m been contemplating the color for our master bathroom and when we received this beautiful arrangement today I decided blue hydrangea just might be it!

Maryann: Apple tree in the orchard on the way to Susan's former residence. I was hoping for some good shots - it was a day with some atmosphere. I love how twisty the trees are and lined up like umbrellas.

Tuesday, April 9, 2013

Maryann:  I still have plenty of snow. Found this today--my one little harbinger of Spring.

Front Porch
Susan: Nothing says “welcome home” like a rocker. This is actually the reflection I got off the storm door while standing on the sidewalk outside.

Maryann:  trying to get a decent shot of a shower invitation, so I can put it in a photo book I will make for the daughter of one of my best friends. I remember when Amanda was born in 1979.

Angel Song
Susan: I never noticed the wind as much as I have since we’ve been on the Cape. This wind chime was singing today, along with the gulls.

Sunday, April 7, 2013

Maryann:  I have lived in Maine for  28 years and never saw this lighthouse--1 hour away. Nubble Light at Cape Neddick. April 7, 2013--finally got there!

Spring Door

Susan: I loved the lines and shadows of the wreath on the potting shed door. It's like a nest!

Color Statement

Maryann: I love this shell; it has such beautiful colors. It's in my aqua bathroom.

Susan: A little surprise in our neighbor's yard today!

Pet Parade

Maryann:  Fooling around with new camera. Trying to capture moving pets with camera in the appropriate mode.

Susan: Mia discovered this old basket when i was unpacking in the kitchen. It’s loaded with silverware but I guess company beats comfort sometimes...
