Our Own Backyard

My husband Scott and I decided to take advantage of our beautiful weather and visit the Portland Observatory. I hadn't been there since it's restoration 1n 1999 - it's a remarkable structure. This building was an important part of our history as it was from this vantage point that incoming ships could be spotted and owners notified, via flag, so they could prepare for arrival. The current flags are those of cruise ships in port. Pretty cool!
